How does MDM work in Windows 10 and Windows 11?
Did you ever wonder what happens when a Windows 10 or 11 device enrolls in an MDM service? What really happens? In this session, we'll go deep and look at the flow: discovery, enrollment, sync sessions, etc. We might even look at some code that implements an MDM service.*The MDM protocols implemented by Windows 10 can be implemented by anyone*The Windows MDM platform has limitations -- on purpose*MDM can be fast and lightweight, but it really depends on the MDM service itself*

PowerShell and MEMCM Automation - Get Your Head Out Of The Console
Description:
There are no doubt tasks that you do on a repeated basis that just eat away hours of your day. You get a list of users from some other team and they ask you to create a collection to deploy content. You update your base image with the latest updates. You're standing up a new distribution point and retiring another. You're regularly creating applications in the exact same way with just the metadata being a little bit different.

While not everything is ripe for automation if it's worth doing more than once, it might be worth looking at ways to outsource your work to scripts. Of course, with any venture like this, there are good ways and bad ways to slice it. Join us as we talk about different things that we have automated and the lessons we've learned along the way.

What you will learn:
  • Repeatable tasks that almost everyone does
  • Things to avoid when automating
  • Modules to help you along the way
  • Sharing is caring - contributing to already existing automation scripts

Build a Home Lab
Description:
♫ Do you want to build a home lab? ♫
♫ C'mon lets go and play! ♫
♫ I'll never test in prod again, ♫
♫ because that's a sin, ♫
♫ it's like prod has gone awaaaaay! ♫

How many of us test our changes in production? How many of us have an actual lab or development environment to test changes and new features? Do you learn by watching computer-based training or just reading Microsoft Docs?

Having worked in many small and medium-sized environments, we know that a good lab or development environment just isn't available for many organizations. And for many, the thought of building their own environment is super daunting. This doesn't have to be the case - home labs are a very affordable way to test new ideas, get your feet wet in new technologies, or even shore up some skills in a product you already work with.

Join us as we talk about:
- What equipment you need to get started (or what you might already have)
- The important pieces to understand (Hypervisors, Virtual Networking, etc.)
- Overcoming knowledge obstacles (a.k.a. fears)
- Automating creation of your labs (build, destroy, rebuild)
- The fastest MEMCM Lab build this side of Azure

What you will learn:
  • How to build a MEMCM Lab in less than 60 minutes
  • What you need to get started with your own home lab
  • Automating the creation of your home lab for maximum destruction opportunities
  • Getting over your fears

This does not use importing objects into ConfigMgr or the MDT database to perform these functions. App Packaging for Intune
Description:
Let's get in the way back machine and go back to the early 2000's, back in those days not too many vendors shipped .msi installers and we routinely had to package apps for SMS/ConfigMgr. It was a daunting task and we all hated it, from this hatred arose a special bread of IT guys known as "packagers", these tireless dudes made the lives of us SMS Admins easier because all they did was spend entire days in AdminStudio creating packages for us. Now back to the present.....Intune lacks a lot of the controls that we've had in MEMCM for the past 14 years or so which means we need to find creative solutions to control how apps are installed. Things like pre-requisites, ordering of application installs, copying files to folders etc. In this session, we will cover packaging apps using the Win32 Content Prep Tool as well as third-party tools for creating custom .msi files.

What you will learn:

Hackers Won't Pass - Microsoft 365 Defender in action
Description:
The industry spends billions on cybersecurity, but it's getting worse every year. Crackers, ransomware attacks, international scandals remind us of our dangerous world, but the biggest issue is the matter of fact: there is a really low threshold of occurrence into "hacking". Any script kiddie can download a bunch of tools and play with your websites, emails servers, etc. In our time to be hacked or not is a matter of statistics. To beat hackers let's think like hackers.

In the session, you will see the complete kill chain from the edge to domain admin privileges and how to stop those types of attacks.

- Getting inside the network with email attacks. Bypassing third-party email protection.
- Privilege Escalation.
- Antivirus evasion.
- Enumerating and Exploiting Active Directory domain.
- Stop phishing attacks with Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
- Protect your modern desktop from modern attacks with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Linux Cloud-based EDR

What you will learn:
  • Microsoft 365 Defender for Office 365 can block advanced phishing attacks
  • Microsoft 365 Defender for Endpoint detects and prevents attack kill-chain
  • Microsoft 365 Defender for Endpoint detects attacks on Linux systems
